Overview

ArchiMate® 3 is an open and independent modeling language that complements The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF®).  An essential skill that all IS/IT architects and consultants must have is the ability to communicate architectural ideas in a formal way. The ArchiMate® 3 Specification (published by The Open Group) has been designed to address both these requirements. It is a lightweight language influenced by UML, with capabilities of describing all layers of architecture, from Enterprise through to Technology and Physical.

This objective of the course is to provide you understanding of the ArchiMate® 3 modeling language - its concepts, notations, and artifacts. In this course, you will do hands-on modeling using Archimate® 3 language through case study exercises and examples. The course prepares you to appear for the exam to become ArchiMate® 3 Certified (Level 1 and Level 2).

Through this workshop, you will
  • become familiar with the concepts and notations of ArchiMate® 3
  • learn to model the relationships between different elements of ArchiMate® 3
  • develop confidence to model various architecture artifacts in your work scenarios using ArchiMate® 3
  • group various related ArchiMate® 3 artifacts that you want to model or have modeled
  • model and connect different layers in architecture

Why should I learn it ?

You need to have the ability to communicate architectural ideas in a formal way. ArchiMate® 3 helps you represent architectures over time (i.e., including transformation and migration planning), as well as their motivation and rationale, in a graphical way. It provides a uniform and consistent representation for diagrams that describe your architectures, and offers an integrated approach to describe and visualize the different architecture domains together with their underlying relations and dependencies. This graphical representation makes it easy for decision makers to understand your architectures and take decisions. Also the ArchiMate® 3 certification will provide you credibility and boosts your career prospects.
